FoldwellPrivacy policy
Foldwell is a Chrome extension that adds folders for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini chats. It is built to work without collecting anything about you.
What Foldwell stores
- The folders you make, with their names and colors.
- For each chat you file, its title, its link and the site it belongs to.
- If you buy Pro, your license key and the date it was last checked.
All of this is saved in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. It is not synced and it is never sent to us. Uninstalling Foldwell deletes it.
What Foldwell reads on chat sites
On chatgpt.com (and chat.openai.com), claude.ai and gemini.google.com, Foldwell reads the chat titles and links shown in the sidebar and the title of the chat you have open, so you can file them. It reads the text of a chat only when you choose to export it, and the export file is saved straight to your computer.
When you use bulk delete, Foldwell asks the chat site to delete the chats you selected. To do that it uses your existing sign in on that site, which means reading the site's session token on ChatGPT and your organization id on Claude. These are used for the delete requests only, are not stored and go from your browser to the chat site only.
Foldwell never edits the content of the chat pages and does not read anything on other websites. To export several chats, it opens each one in your tab and then returns to the chat you had open.
What Foldwell sends over the network
Only your Pro license key. Foldwell sends it to Polar, our payment provider, when you activate it, about once a week after that to confirm it is still valid, and when you remove it from a browser to free up that slot. It goes with a fixed device label, "Foldwell on Chrome", and the slot id Polar gave it. Nothing else about you or your chats is included.
When you buy Pro, Polar processes your payment and email address under Polar's privacy policy. We receive your email address and order from Polar so we can help with support and refunds.
When you email hello@usefoldwell.com, the mail is forwarded to our Gmail inbox so we can answer. To know who replied to us, we also keep the sender and reply-to addresses, subject, date and the start of the text (2 KB at most) at Cloudflare (European Union) for 90 days.
What Foldwell never does
- No analytics, tracking pixels or advertising.
- No selling or sharing of data.
- No use of your data to train AI models.
- No access to any site other than the three chat sites.
Permissions
- Storage keeps your folders on your computer.
- Unlimited storage lets a large library fit in that local storage. It does not send anything anywhere.
- Side panel shows Foldwell next to the chat.
- Access to chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com lets Foldwell read chat titles and, when you ask, export or delete chats.
Chrome Web Store user data policy
The use of information received from these sites follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the features you see in Foldwell.
Your choices
You can download or delete your folders at any time from Foldwell settings, or remove the extension to delete everything. To ask about your purchase data, write to hello@usefoldwell.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date, and the extension's store listing will say what changed.
